Science Tuto is an educational application developed and operated by WebNexis Technologies. Our app helps students of Class 1 to 12 in India learn Science, Mathematics, General Knowledge, Computer Science, and more — aligned with CBSE, ICSE, and WBSE curricula.

This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and the choices you have regarding your information. By using Science Tuto, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

We collect only the minimum data needed to deliver a personalised learning experience.

Guest mode: You can use Science Tuto without registering. In guest mode, no personal account data is collected — only anonymous analytics.

Your data is used only to provide and improve the Science Tuto service:

• 🎓 Personalise learning — show curriculum-relevant chapters, topics, and quizzes for your class and board
• 📊 Track progress — remember which topics you've completed and quiz scores so you can resume learning
• 🏆 Leaderboard — rank quiz scores anonymously among students in your class
• 📅 Daily Quiz — deliver the same date-based quiz to all users for fair competition
• 🔔 App improvements — use anonymous analytics to identify popular topics, fix bugs, and improve performance
• 🔐 Account security — verify your identity and keep your account secure
• 📢 Service communication — send important updates about the app (no marketing spam)

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information with any third party. Data may be shared only in the following strictly limited circumstances:

• Google AdMob: The app displays educational ads via Google AdMob. AdMob may use your device's advertising ID to show relevant ads. You can opt out by resetting your Advertising ID in Android Settings. Google Privacy Policy →
• Legal requirements: We may disclose your data if required by law, court order, or government authority.
• Business transfer: If WebNexis Technologies merges with or is acquired by another entity, user data may be transferred. We will notify users before any transfer.

Science Tuto is designed for students aged 6 to 18 years. We take children's privacy extremely seriously and comply with:

Our commitments for children's accounts:

• ✅ No behavioural advertising targeting minors
• ✅ No public social features — no chat, no public profiles
• ✅ No data sold or shared with third parties for commercial purposes
• ✅ Parents/guardians can request data deletion at any time
• ✅ No collection of precise location data
• ✅ Ads shown are family-safe, non-targeted where possible

Parental consent: For children under 13, we recommend a parent or guardian create and manage the account. If you believe your child under 13 has provided personal data without your consent, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

We implement multiple layers of security to protect your data:

• 🔒 HTTPS/TLS encryption — all data transmitted between the app and our servers is encrypted
• 🔑 Password hashing — passwords are stored using bcrypt (industry-standard hashing). We never store plain-text passwords
• 🛡️ SQL injection protection — all database queries use PDO prepared statements
• 🔏 JWT authentication — API access uses signed tokens with expiry
• 🗄️ Secure database — hosted on Hostinger with restricted access; database credentials never exposed publicly
• 📋 Server-side error logging — errors are logged server-side only; no sensitive info is ever returned to clients
• 🔄 Regular backups — database is backed up regularly to prevent data loss

You have the following rights over your personal data:

• 👁️ Right to Access — Request a copy of all personal data we hold about you
• ✏️ Right to Correct — Update or correct inaccurate information via the app's Edit Profile screen or by contacting us
• 🗑️ Right to Delete — Request deletion of your account and all associated data. We will process within 7 business days
• 🚫 Right to Object — Object to processing of your data for analytics. You can disable Firebase Analytics by uninstalling the app
• 📦 Right to Portability — Request an export of your data in a machine-readable format (JSON/CSV)
• 🔕 Right to Withdraw Consent — Withdraw consent for optional data collection at any time. This will not affect lawfulness of prior processing

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@sciencetuto.in. We will respond within 30 days as required by applicable law. Identity verification may be required before processing your request.

• Active accounts: Data is retained for as long as your account is active.
• Inactive accounts: Accounts with no activity for 24 months will receive an email notice, and data will be deleted after 30 days if no response.
• Deleted accounts: All personal data is permanently deleted within 7 business days of a deletion request. Anonymised, aggregated analytics data may be retained.
• Quiz results and progress: Retained while your account is active to maintain leaderboard accuracy and progress history.
• Server logs: Error logs and security logs are retained for up to 90 days for debugging and fraud prevention.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors. When we make significant changes:

• 📱 An in-app notification will be shown on next launch
• 📧 Registered users will receive an email notification
• 🗓️ The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will be revised

We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of Science Tuto after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.

For minor changes (typos, clarifications, legal language updates), we may update the policy without prior notice. For material changes, we will provide at least 7 days' notice.
